RAILWAY CONSTRUCTION

Client Shimmick-Traylor-Granite (STG) JV

Project STG managed the drilled shaft and shoring installation for the HART airport guideway project. The team successfully drilled one shaft 350-feet deep, the deepest shaft of its kind in recorded history.

ROC Equipment Utilized BUMA Casing Rotator CR3000, BUMA 2.2 & 3.6m Crane Mount Oscillators, Power Packs, Hammer Grabs, Chisels, Casings and Tremie Pipe

ROC Technical Expertise ROC helped design a trestle that would withstand the weight and torque of the foundation drilling equipment needed to install the project’s massive oscillated shaft.

FOUNDATIONS

Client Alliance Diversified Enterprises

Project Alliance Diversified utilized a drill mount oscillator to install foundation piles for a custom residence. This allowed them to dig through groundwater and limited space conditions on beach front property.

ROC Equipment Utilized BUMA 1500 Drill Mount Oscillator, BUMA Power Pack, 1500 MM Casing, BUMA Hammer Grab & Spherical Grab

TREASURE HUNTING

Client ”The Curse of Oak Island” on The History Channel

Project ROC provided the equipment and staff used to drill for treasure on The History Channel show “The Curse of Oak Island.”

ROC Equipment Utilized BUMA C1500T Oscillator, P5318C Oscillator Power Pack, H2000B Hammer Grab, S2310 Spherical Grab, 2500mm Casing

WATER SYSTEMS

Client Southland/Mole Joint Ventures & ATS Drilling

Project Installed 3000mm permanent casing up to 500ft deep for the Kaneohe-Kailua Sewer Tunnel. The gravity conveyance tunnel was designed to increase the reliability and capacity of the community’s sewer system and provide temporary wastewater storage capacity to help prevent sewage overflows and spills, in particular during heavy rainstorm events.

ROC Equipment Utilized BUMA C3000G Casing Oscillator, BUMA P5318C Power Pack

SLOPE STABILIZATION

Owner Sound Transit

Project As part of the Federal Way Link Extension Project in Kent, WA. ROC’s equipment was utilized to place shafts for slope stabilization. Stabilization efforts were designed to address a liquifiable layer of soil that had been identified fairly deep below the light rail alignment.

ROC Equipment Utilized BUMA C3600G Casing Oscillator, BUMA P6128V Power Pack, 3600mm OD Segmental Casing, BUMA 3300 Spherical Grab

FOUNDATION REPAIR

Client Legacy Foundations

Project Foundation mitigation repair of the 301 Millennium Towers building located in downtown San Francisco. Legacy installed 52 perimeter piles, each 24 inches diameter by 300 feet deep, around the building to prevent the building from sinking further.

ROC Equipment Utilized BUMA C1300T Casing Oscillator, BUMA C1000T Casing Oscillator, BUMA P3818V Power Pack, 914mm OD Segmental Casing, BUMA HRC914 Casing Clamp, 610mm OD Segmental Casing, BUMA HRC610 Casing Clamp

LAX People Mover

The Automated People Mover (APM) at Los Angeles Airport (LAX) is a 2.25-mile elevated guideway train that delivers passengers between LAX and new offsite parking, car rental, and transit facilities.  Legacy Foundations was selected as the driller for the railway’s foundation piles.

To mitigate dust, vibration and sound impacts during construction, Legacy used the oscillator method for large diameter Cast-In-Drilled-Hole (CIDH) pile construction.  There were five oscillators on the project at one time ranging in size from 1300mm- 3352mm. The team installed 265 piles along the APM route, the largest CIDH piles measuring up to 11 feet wide and the deepest measuring 99 feet down.
